Scrub Scout

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Scrub Scout to join our Operating Theatre team on a permanent basis. This role is essential in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care across a range of surgical specialties. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider perioperative team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform scrub and scout duties in accordance with best practice and infection control standards
• Prepare operating theatres, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Anticipate surgical team needs and provide appropriate instruments and supplies
• Maintain accurate surgical counts and documentation
• Ensure patient safety, dignity, and comfort at all times
• Participate in theatre cleaning and restocking between cases

Essential Criteria

• Registered Nurse
• AHPRA
• Recent experience as a Scrub Scout in an operating theatre
• Sound knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure

Desirable Criteria

• Experience across multiple surgical specialties
• Postgraduate perioperative qualification
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts or on-call rosters
